The Real Cost of ‘Do-It-Yourself’ Software

When you compare a typical SaaS, per-user ERP solution to the more tailored, partner-led approach we offer at SpudERP, it’s important to look beyond the sticker price. Many SaaS systems carry ongoing user fees, require significant internal resources for implementation and training, force workarounds or additional software to fill functional gaps, and depend on your team to become partly the software experts. Internal costs like dedicated implementation team time, data migration, configuration, training, and workaround development add up fast — in fact, one guide shows the average ERP-project budget per user at $8,000-$9,000 over five years. Reference: ERP Focus

By contrast, Spud ERP embeds business-process experts, implementation support, and a local partner team from day one — reducing internal overhead, minimizing workaround risk, and helping your organization capture value faster. In short: when you self-implement a SaaS model, you’re not just paying for the software — you’re absorbing hidden costs in internal time, extra licenses, workarounds, and delayed value. For more evidence of how hidden costs can erode ROI and how project budgets regularly exceed expectations, see the supporting articles below.

Who SpudERP Isn’t For

We’re not the right fit if you’re looking for:

A plug-and-play app — SpudERP is built for your processes, not downloaded in 5 minutes.

The cheapest option — Our goal is ROI, not rock-bottom pricing.

DIY setup — We manage everything to guarantee reliability and performance.

Companies without defined workflows — SpudERP works best when you already know how you want your business to run.

We work best with teams ready to define, refine, and scale their processes.
