Often we hear this question, “Why would I need custom software?” With off-the-shelf software available, why go with custom software?
First off, just to clarify, custom software isn't only for large corporations. Small to medium sized businesses can receive great benefits from custom software, and, in fact, can help them keep up with the bigger corporations. Here’s 3 signs that you should consider custom software for your business.
More Problems Than Solutions
Often times, businesses take the risk of purchasing some off-the-shelf piece of software, but once they get it up and running, it causes more headaches than solutions. Whether it’s hard to use, or you’ve abandoned it altogether, it’s a sure sign that it’s time for a custom solution. Your software is meant to help your business, not make things more complicated. You might feel stuck with your current software, and remaining in that situation is not beneficial to your company. Investing in custom software will help you move forward and make improvements with your business objectives.
Do you feel like you have a position that should be labeled ‘Excel Spreadsheet Professional’? If you have an employee, or employees, spending countless hours re-entering data and information, we are here to tell you there’s a better way. We’ve worked with many businesses to help streamline their data input with a custom app. So those days of spending countless hours re-entering data is over! If this sounds like your company, custom software is a perfect solution.
Not Scaling For Your Needs
One major downfall with off-the-shelf software is that it has to be designed in a way to fit the needs of many businesses. Therefore it isn't perfect for any business. Often businesses find themselves stuck with software that they can't do certain functions they need to run their business because it isn't available with their solution. With a custom solution, this isn't the case. We can build a solution specific for your needs and continue to grow it over time as your needs grow. It will be built specifically for you.
Your business is growing, you’re taking on new projects and hiring new staff members. There’s rarely a canned solution that will address all of your company’s needs. You will need software that is geared to fit your niche and hit on every focal point of your company. If this is you, it’s time to consider a custom solution. When we look back on 2015, there’s no denying that the use of mobile apps for businesses has grown. We now live in a day and age where a heavy majority of mobile phone users own smartphones. So it’s pretty simple to see why the use of mobile apps for businesses have grown. But what will happen with mobile apps heading into the new year? Here’s what we predict for the evolution of business mobile apps heading into 2016.
Focus on Consumer Experience
For a long time, business mobile apps were simply a platform to market their products. That’s no longer the case. Now businesses have to focus on a consumer’s complete experience when they use their mobile app. From the first time a user opens your app to the time they convert, the entire experience must fit the consumer’s needs. We predict that more emphasis will be placed on consumer experiences and improving that experience within businesses’ mobile apps.
Thanks to the ability to customize your mobile app exactly the way you prefer, you’re able to garner more critical data from users from your mobile app. This critical information can be quite useful, and we predict it will be used to enhance company’s retargeting campaigns. By building in features to track usage, businesses will be able to track behavior and create retargeting messages that are more relevant to that specific consumer.
According to a recent study by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), 48% of consumers admitted to accessing videos through mobile apps while only 18% preferred watching videos from a mobile website. Mobile app development, as we mentioned earlier, will continue to put more emphasis on the consumer’s experience, and we predict video to be a big part of this.
So those are the big 3 new trends we see hitting business mobile app development heading into 2016. Of course, there will be many other changes and new trends popping up, but many of the new strategies will have a lot to do with our first trend, which is improving the consumer’s experience with your brand’s mobile app.
